Avenida dos Aliados

Chapel of Almas

Chapel built at the beginning of the eighteenth century. From the same period is the image of Nossa Senhora das Almas (Our Lady of the Souls), which is inside. In 1929, the entire exterior was covered with tiles representing scenes from the life of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Catherine. Those tile panels were recovered in 1982

Casa da Música

Casa da Música is the main concert hall located on Avenida da Boavista, in Oporto, Portugal. It was designed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas as part of the European Capital of Culture event in 2001 (Porto 2001), however, the construction was only completed in 2005, immediately becoming an icon of the city.

Medieval Tower House

Quadrangular building, divided by two floors, with a south-facing ogival door and a stone balcony, Gothic in the north. In its interior was until 1960, the Office of History of the City, reason why this building was also known as Tower of the City. After 25 April 1974 the Casa Torre Medieval was occupied by the population, who installed the Social and Cultural Center of Sé. Here the Official Tourism Office of Sé operates at the following times: nov-abr every day 9am to 7pm; Mai-out every day from 9am to 8pm.

Casa do Infante

Date of 1325, it is National Monument since 1924 and here is the Municipal Historical Archive of Porto. Here you can enjoy a little better the history of the city of Porto and see a model of the city in the medieval period.

Portuguese Photography Center

The building where the Portuguese Photography Center, also known as the "Chain of Relation", was built in 1767. The grandiose building, whose construction lasted almost thirty years, housed the Court and the Chain of Relation. The Portuguese Center of Photography (C.P.F.) exists since 1997, as a public service created by the then Ministry of Culture, to ensure a national policy for photography. Its mission is to safeguard, value and promote the photographic heritage.

Estação de São Bento

This building, one of the main monuments of the city, is famous for its tile panels, which represent a chronology of the means of transportation used by man, myths and pictures of the history of Portugal, scenes of country work and ethnographic customs. The station is located in the Historic Center of Porto, classified as a National Monument.

Carmo/Carmelitas Church

Built in the second half of the 18th century, it is one of the most notable buildings of the Portuguese rococo, both in architecture and in the carving that shapes the interior. Its lateral facade was covered in 1912 with a panel of tiles, where are painted drawings by Silvestre Silvestri. They are figurative compositions allusive to the cult of Our Lady. Building classified as a national monument.

S. Clara Church

Gothic building, whose interior was covered with gilded carving, in the first half of the XVIII century. The construction dates from the first half of the century. XV. It underwent changes in the modern era, when the beautiful Renaissance portal was built. True Baroque jewel, impresses by its decorative exuberance.

São Francisco Church

Main temple in gothic style existing in the city, whose construction began in the fourteenth century. It is one of the most important works of the Baroque, for its interior in gilded carving, of the XVII and XVIII centuries. It was the exuberance of gold that led the Count de Raczinsky to describe it as the "church of gold." It is National Monument since 1910 and Cultural Heritage of Humanity - UNESCO since 1996.

Bolhão Market

The Bolhão Market is the most famous in the city and in 2006 it was classified as a place of public interest. Dating back to 1850, with a singular structure with two floors, it is characterised by the monumentality of its neoclassic architecture. On the exterior, the market is divided into a large number of shops, facing the four surrounding roads.

Monastery of Serra do Pilar

Inserted in the area classified in December 1996 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, one of the symbols of Vila Nova de Gaia, preserves the interesting church and cloister, a circular plant, unique in Portugal. São Bento da Vitória Monastery

Situated in the heart of old Porto, the parish of Vitória, the Monastery of São Bento da Vitória - classified National Monument in 1977 - is one of the most important religious buildings in the city. It was within walls, next to the Door of Olival, occupying part of the old Jewish quarter.

D. Fernando Wall

The D. Fernando wall was built to substitute the old late-medieval wall that, by the 15th Century, had become too small for the growing city. It was rebuilt by D. Fernando, after whom it was named, between 1368 and 1437 with money from the wine transfer tax and it was about 3000 paces long and 30 feet high.

Paço Episcopal

The Oporto Episcopal Palace is an imposing Baroque building dominating the city's views from the elevation where it stands on the vast Terreiro da Sé. Its original building, already destined for the residence of the prelates of Porto, seems to be dated to the thirteenth century, and Bishop D. Martinho Rodrigues lived there, although there may have been an older construction there. In the medieval building were celebrated in 1386 the wedding of D. João I with D. Filipa de Lencastre.

Pillory of Sé

The Pillory of the Se was placed by the city of Porto in 1945, after the completion of the works of restructuring of the area surrounding the cathedral. The town hall had run this pillory, which is a reconstruction of an engraving 1797.

D. Luís Bridge

The D. Luís bridge is an icon of the city and has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. It is 395 meters long and 8 meters wide, and its arch is still considered the largest arch in the world in wrought iron.

Rectory of the University of Porto

The rectangular building, of classic style, has similarities with the Hospital of Santo António. In 1911 it housed the Faculty of Sciences and at the moment it is installed in this building the Rectory of the University of Porto and the Museum of Natural History of the University of Porto. An integral part of the Urban Wine Route.

National Monument, the Cathedral of the city of Porto, located in the heart of the historical center of the city of Porto, is one of the main and oldest monuments of Portugal.

São João National Theater

Built in 1910 on the ruins of the Royal Theater which burned in 1908, it is a classic building with allegorical adornments of pain, kindness, hatred and love. The main façade is inspired by the renovation of the Louis XVI style, which characterized the early years of the twentieth century, especially in France. Authored by Marques da Silva, it is a property of public interest.

Court of Sé

Court of Se, as it is today, is a creation of the 1940s to make way for this great place were demolished several blocks of medieval long that still existed. From this site you can see the river Douro and the city of Gaia.
